Why cryptocurrency?

Cryptocurrency donations are becoming increasingly common and we are seeing donors who own cryptocurrencies shifting their support to non-profits who offer the ability to donate their cryptocurrency directly.

 

At KYDS, we are constantly pivoting to meet the needs of the community members we serve which means our fundraising methods need to adapt to better plan how funds will be distributed among our programs.

What are the advantages of gifting cryptocurrency?

When you donate cryptocurrency, you generally owe no capital gains tax. In other words, donating crypto directly is one of the most tax-efficient ways to support KYDS and your contribution goes much further.

When you donate crypto, you can choose to remain entirely anonymous. If you want to stay in touch, please email us with a screenshot of your transaction so we can provide you with the proper tax information.

 

3. Quick, Easy, and Convenient Process

Simply scan the QR code on the email or copy the unique wallet address to send your donation. Please email info@konscious.org with the subject crypto to receive a tax receipt.

 

Does the IRS recognize cryptocurrency donations?

The IRS classifies cryptocurrencies as property, so cryptocurrency donations to 501(c)3 charities receive the same tax treatment as stocks. Donating cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event, meaning you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount and can deduct it on your taxes. Please contact your tax or financial advisor for more information.
