KYDS is the grateful recipient of proceeds from a variety of third-party fundraising events. These events are organized by businesses, community groups, teams, schools, clubs, civic organizations, and individuals who wish to join KYDS in our mission of transforming the lives of our youth, schools, and communities!

Class or Workshop

Host a class or workshop on a topic you're passionate about, whether it's cooking, yoga, painting, or photography. Charge a fee for participation, and donate a portion of the proceeds to KYDS. You can hold the class in-person or virtually, making it accessible to a wide audience.

Raffle or Auction

Organize a raffle or auction event where participants can bid on donated items or experiences. Reach out to local businesses or individuals for donations, such as gift cards, services, or unique experiences. Sell tickets for the raffle or admission to the auction, with all proceeds going towards supporting KYDS.

Anniversary

Celebrate your love and commitment by hosting an anniversary fundraiser in support of KYDS. Plan a special event, such as a dinner party, cocktail reception, or outdoor picnic, and invite friends and family to join you. Request donations in lieu of gifts, and share stories about the impact of KYDS and why supporting their mission is meaningful to you.

Wedding or Shower

Celebrate your special day while giving back to your community by asking guests to make a donation to KYDS in lieu of traditional gifts. You can set up a donation page or collection box at your wedding or shower venue, making it easy for guests to contribute. Share the impact of their donations with guests to show how their support is making a difference.

Local Business Give Back

Implement strategies such as "round-up at the register," where customers can opt to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar with the difference donated to KYDS, or designate a specific month where a percentage of sales goes directly to support KYDS programs and initiatives. Encourage community members to support these businesses during the fundraising period to maximize the impact of their contributions.

Garage
Sale

Declutter your home and raise funds for KYDS by hosting a garage sale. Gather items you no longer need or use and sell them at affordable prices. Promote your garage sale to friends, family, and neighbors, and consider advertising it online or in local community groups. Donate all proceeds from the sale to KYDS to support their programs and initiatives.

Coming
of Age Celebration

Mark this significant milestone by incorporating a charitable component into your Quinceañera, Rights of Passage, Sweet 16, or /Bat Mitzvah celebration. Instead of traditional gifts, ask guests to make a donation to KYDS in honor of your special day. You can set up a donation page or collection box at the event venue and share information about KYDS and its impact with guests.

Dinner
Party

Throw a cocktail party or event in your home or at a local restaurant. Many venues provide great deals for very little money. Ask your friends to donate $50 and then spend no more than $20 per person on the food. This will ensure you will have a good amount to donate by the end of the night. Include a raffle or auction to increase revenue.

Graduation or Confirmation

Mark the occasion of your graduation or confirmation by giving back to your community. Invite friends and family to make a donation to KYDS in lieu of gifts or cards. Share your fundraising goal and progress with your loved ones, and thank them for their support in helping you make a positive impact.

Birthday

Whether you’re a big kid or a little kid, supporting KYDS on your birthday is a BIG DEAL! Having a party and supporting KYDS is a great way to get family and friends to support a great cause and learn more about KYDS too.

FAQs

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET MY FUNDRAISER APPLICATION APPROVED?

Applications will be approved within 10 business days of receipt. Applicants will be notified by email.

DO I NEED TO CREATE A 501C3 (NON-PROFIT) ORGANIZATION TO HOST A FUNDRAISER FOR KYDS?

No, anyone can host a fundraiser for KYDS with our approval.

CAN SOMEONE FROM KYDS HELP ME PLAN MY EVENT, AND ATTEND AND/OR SPEAK AT MY EVENT?

We are happy to provide guidance for your event, but we do not have the staff to handle the organizational and administrative tasks associated with third-party events. We do our best to attend events supporting KYDS, but we cannot guarantee attendance of staff or volunteers at your event.

CAN KYDS PROVIDE INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR MY EVENT?

Because KYDS is the beneficiary and has no direct involvement with running the fundraiser, we cannot provide insurance coverage for any third-party events. The event organizer is responsible for obtaining insurance coverage for the event.

CAN KYDS HELP ME GET A PERMIT FOR MY EVENT?

The organization and execution of the event is the responsibility of the event organizer. The event organizer must obtain any necessary permits or licenses.

CAN I USE THE KYDS TAX EXEMPTION NUMBER?

Because KYDS is not hosting your event, it is considered a third-party event. For this reason, you will not be able to use KYDS IRS 501(c)(3) charitable classification, federal tax ID number, or tax-exempt certificate.

WILL EACH OF MY DONORS GET A RECEIPT?

KYDS cannot issue charitable tax receipts for donors or sponsors who make payments directly to your third-party event. If your donor wants a receipt, please be sure the check is made payable to KYDS.

Please note that there are complex regulations around the distribution of charitable tax receipts. This includes donations of money, in-kind items, and services. Issuing an inappropriate receipt can put our charitable tax status in jeopardy so please do not promise any kind of receipt. Only KYDS can issue charitable donation receipts. For more information about charitable tax receipts please contact KYDS.

HOW DO I OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT FOR MY EVENT?

We recommend you open a non-interest bearing checking account, or benefit account, at a local bank. The account must be opened in the third party’s name. It cannot be opened using KYDS name or financial information.

CAN I PAY MYSELF BACK FOR EXPENSES I’VE INCURRED?

We recognize that some coordinators need funds to run an event and pay expenses. However, KYDS cannot fund or financially support community fundraisers. Coordinators are responsible for covering all expenses and cannot be reimbursed by KYDS. For these reasons, as you start to collect money you may want to keep some funds on hand to help pay your expenses. This amount should not exceed 30% of your gross revenue. In your planning process, make sure to develop a budget reflecting the type of event you are having and the many costs related to the event. After the fundraiser is complete, please send us all checks addressed to KYDS.

CAN WE HAVE A CHECK PRESENTATION WITH KYDS?

Yes, we can arrange for a check presentation to be held with KYDS staff or volunteers. Please contact KYDS to schedule a time.

SHOULD I SEND A PERSONAL THANK YOU LETTER OR CARD TO MY DONORS?

Definitely! It is important to thank everyone who was involved with your fundraiser!
